Sakina Fakhruddin

Having served as President of the Art Society last year, I understand both the strengths of our community and the areas where we can better support our members. Art societies should not only be spaces for creativity, but also spaces where everyone feels comfortable, supported, and able to participate fully.

As Welfare Officer, my priority will be to ensure that the Art Society remains an inclusive, welcoming, and supportive environment for all members. I will work to create clearer welfare support within the society by being approachable, maintaining open channels for feedback, and ensuring that any concerns are taken seriously and addressed respectfully.

I also want to strengthen the sense of community within the society. This includes organising relaxed social events, wellbeing-focused art sessions, and collaborative activities that encourage members to connect with each other beyond formal workshops. Art can be a powerful tool for expression and wellbeing, and I want to help create opportunities where members can use creativity as a way to relax, de-stress, and build friendships.

Finally, drawing on my experience as President, I hope to work closely with the committee to make sure welfare is considered in all aspects of our activities—from event planning to member engagement. My goal is to help maintain a society where everyone feels valued, supported, and excited to be part of our creative community.
