Sara Khalil

Hi, I’m Sara, a second-year Biomedical Engineering student going into third year, and I’m Bahraini. I’m standing for Arab and North African Society President because I really value this community and want to keep contributing in a bigger way. Being Events Officer this year has been such a positive experience, and it’s shown me how much small things like well-planned events and consistent communication actually matter. I’d love to build on what we’re doing, keep organising things people genuinely look forward to, and make sure everyone feels welcome, involved, and represented.

Malak Eldressi

My name is Malak, I’m originally from Libya, and I’m running to be your next President of Arab and North African Society.

This year as Events Officer, I’ve helped plan and deliver some of our biggest events, including the Charity Iftar and Inter-Uni Hafla. Being part of them has given me experience in organising, coordinating, and making sure events run smoothly and that everyone enjoys them.

Over the past year, I’ve seen what works and what we can improve. I know how much communication and teamwork it takes to achieve a successful year, and am confident I can deliver this as president.

I will continue organising fun socials, as well as cultural events, girlsonly events, collaborations with other societies and universities, and postgrad events.

I will also organise more careers focused events for every discipline. There is no dedicated Arab early careers space at UCL, and I believe creating networking panels, workshops, and speaker events will make the society beneficial long term for members.

I value feedback and will make sure there are opportunities for members to suggest ideas and share opinions so everyone feels reflected and included.

I’m organised, reliable, and proactive, and I would appreciate your support to be your next President.
