Lawinia Banas

I'm standing for the role of Media Officer of Analogue Magazine as I feel strongly towards promoting the distribution of creative art and writing. As Media Officer, I would be able to act as a point of call for members in terms of discussing page ideas and help with editing. In the past I've created social media content for a variety of different causes such as my Sixth Form's Environmental Society, a climate education campaign and content I've created to promote a crafting event I led as part of Analogue. I hope that as Media Officer I would be able to take on the unique aesthetic of past social media content whilst incorporating themes from future editions of the magazine. Expanding our societies social media presence and outreach means that we can introduce our magazine to many more talented creatives. As an avid writer, I'm especially keen on continuing Analogue's newsletters and think that promoting the work of others is a topic worth focusing writing on, incorporating my love of journalism with this role. I hope that you'll consider me as your future Media Officer!

This year I really enjoyed writing for the magazine and being involved in the creative process with a group, it reminded me of the things I enjoy that I had not been able to make time for, such as writing, sitting with myself and letting my brain conjure up ideas, bouncing ideas off of others and improving, designing, and getting to share a final result with others. I would love to be more involved with the magazine, and help spread our creative vision and to show people the chance to get involved themselves. I enjoy creating content for social media, and to be on the communications aspect of things I have a passion for, having run accounts to have a creative outlet and practice curating an aesthetic, editing videos and testing out different styles of media. This would be great to have a space to put my practice into use for something I enjoy being a part of, as I missed the process of creating content with a purpose and motivation. As media officer I would like to maintain an expressive style across social media that represents the vision of the society and magazine, and create opportunities for society members and students to get involved, through things such as interviews, vlogs, other mediums of projects, and work together to come up with other ideas, and be a welcoming platform to share creative visions. I think it is a lot more motivating to create with others and beneficial to have a community to work and discuss together, and would love to contribute!
