American Football Club: Welfare Officer

I believe the role of Welfare Officer has big potential for the club if it's taken seriously. It's clear that player retention is an issue, and ensuring player welfare and engagement could have a big impact on that.

As Welfare Officer, I plan to take action on player retention. I will position myself as a point of contact for rookies, and directly engage with them in the starting months, seeking to help with any concerns they have or issues they face. Not only will this hopefully increase retention by giving an approachable face to the committee, but it will also give the club insights on real problems faced by recruits before they potential drop out. 

As Equipment Officer, I believe I proved my commitment to player welfare and my availability as a committee member. I've regularly helped players one-on-one with kit issues countless times and this has given me valuable experience.

I am the best choice for Welfare Officer, and I will carry through my dedication as a player and committee member from this year
