Hi,
I'm Tan, your current UCL Alt Protein Project's Events Director. I am running again this year so I can continue to increase people's awareness about the sustainable power of alternative proteins. Throughout the past year, I've set up numerous speaker events and organized the interuniversity Future of Food exhibition visit at the Science Museum. I already have contacts and people lined up for future lab visits or speaker events and wholeheartedly hope those can come to fruition.
If you have attended and enjoyed any of our previous events, please do vote for me so those events can continue to be organized and so our alternative protein community can expand.
Thank you!
My application for Events Director is driven by my ongoing engagement with The Future of Food systems, and role alternative proteins will play in shaping them.
Having started with a degree in biochemical engineering before bridging into Arts and Sciences, I'm especially interested in the intersections between biotechnology, policy and sustainability and have actively sought out conversations in these areas. Furthermore, currently working on a scoping review exploring AI applications in cellular agriculture has strengthened my interest in how research and emerging technologies translate into real-world impact.
As Events Director, I would strive to curate speakers bridging research and industry to organise events which are intellectually rigorous, interdisciplinary, and thus genuinely valuable for students also exploring their place in the Alternative Protein space.
