Albanian Society: Event Officer

I am running to be your event officer as I am keen to continue the work of the current committee in setting up talks and events, as well as having my own ideas on events we could have as a society. 

One of these ideas is to take into consideration members who may not know Albanian, be it because they are Albanians who were never taught it growing up, or maybe non-Albanians who are interested in the language and culture. Considering this, I propose setting up opportunities where members with different levels of comprehension of the Albanian language, could collaborate together to practice our mother-tongue and bond as a society. This could be in the form of games or more structured sessions. If you are fond of this idea and choose me as your event officer, I will be very glad to collaborate with fellow members, alongside the committee, on setting something like this up. 

Growing up in Albania has given me a strong appreciation for our culture and traditions, and it has  also taught me how to share and celebrate them. As Events Officer, I’d love to exactly that: organise events that celebrate our culture, bring people together, and create a sense of community within the society.

I have hands-on experience in event planning from co-leading the SOP Ball for the School of Pharmacy. From the initial planning to helping run things on the night, I was involved in making sure the event went smoothly and I’d love to bring that same organisation and enthusiasm to the Albanian Society.

Lastly, I’m also keen to work closely with the committee to create opportunities for members to connect and grow. My aim is simply to organise events that members look forward to and are truly memorable.
