Abacus Society: Treasurer

Hey everyone! I’m Tilly, a first year Economics student and your current First Year Representative. Having moved from China and lived in England for many years, I’ve come to really value being part of an Asian community. ABACUS has been one of my main highlights at UCL and I'd be honoured to be your Treasurer. 

Planning our upcoming FYR End of Year Pres has already been a rewarding experience, and I’m grateful to have played a key role in bringing the event together. It has given me valuable insight into how the committee is run, from managing budgets and setting ticket prices to coordinating logistics and liaising with venues to ensure the event runs smoothly.

Prior to university, I took four A-Levels including Further Maths while balancing my role as Head of School, organising large-scale events that strengthened my teamwork and budgeting skills. Through studying Economics, securing a Spring Week and upcoming Summer Internship in finance, I’ve developed strong analytical and accounting skills to manage ABACUS’ finances responsibly and transparently.

As Treasurer, my main goal would be ensuring members maximise the value of their memberships, by keeping events accessible and encouraging greater attendance, while maintaining the high quality ABACUS is known for.

By managing funds strategically, strengthening sponsorships, and planning with strong attention to detail, I hope to help ABACUS continue growing while preserving the culture and community that make it so special.
