Britney Chan

Hi! I’m Britney and I’d love to be your Consulting Director next year.

I’m really passionate about using consulting to create real, societal impact, and that’s exactly what 180 DC allows us to do. Over the past year, I’ve worked as both a Project Team Lead and a Project consultant, so I’ve experienced the programme from both perspectives. Leading a team and collaborating with consultants allowed me to fully understand what makes projects enjoyable, well-run, and genuinely valuable for everyone involved.

If elected, my focus would be on listening and acting on feedback. I want to make sure consultants are well-equipped with skills for their projects. I plan to introduce more structured resources and bi-weekly training sessions so everyone feels confident in their consulting skills while also building a stronger sense of community within 180 DC.

Most importantly, I want this role to be about supporting consultants, making sure everyone feels confident, valued and excited to be a part of 180 DC!

Outside of consulting, I also served as Vice President at Support! International Foundation, a student-led NGO working to reduce education inequality across Asia. Through partnerships with external organisations, we were able to expand our reach and support over 1500 beneficiaries. This experience taught me how important strong partnerships are and I would strive to do the same and secure meaningful and engaging projects for our consultants.

Rahul Shafia

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all doing well.

My name is Rahul and I study BSc Econ and Stats, I'm currently a team lead in 180DC and I have clearly seen the value this society provides, I want to develop our consulting project offerings further, so that all our members can be prepared for their future internships and grad roles, regardless of industry!

As Consulting Director, I would improve our outreach strategies (cold emailing, outreach templates, onboarding calls) to secure high-quality, engaging clients for our termly projects and ensure our consultants are fully supported to deliver their best work. I have had experience in creating efficient outreach methods and assisting consultants through London Strategic Consulting, and I hope to bring these skills into the role as well as perhaps collaborating with LSC more in the future (180DC X LSC summer social?).

Consulting skills are highly transferable, and by working with more rigorous and exciting clients, our members will be able to develop even further and maximise the value they gain from 180DC.

Regardless of whether I am elected I hope I can meet more of you within the society and continue working on exciting projects!

Kind regards,

Rahul

Through completing two successful projects with 180DC, I have experienced firsthand the impact the society has on both the clients we support but also on its own consultants. Those results are what motivates me to take on a bigger role.

My experiences have given me a clear and complete understanding of an engagement in consulting, from research and solution testing, to presentations and final deliverables. They also have developed my adaptability in situations where things did not go to plan, like the client being unresponsive or major data privacy concerns leading to writing and signing NDAs. That kind of problem-solving and creativity is exactly what I want to bring as a Consultant Director.

I also have strong communication skills, whether it is to discuss on the project's progress within the team, or to build a good relationship with clients to keep them engaged and involved throughout the project.

Finally, I am a hard worker. During projects, I always try to improve our work and our ideas to deliver the good and convenient solutions to our clients while making sure to respect deadlines.

As Consultant Director, I will help teams navigate difficult situations, support new consultants until they find their feet, and share everything I learned during my projects. I'm excited to take on that responsibility and to deepen my engagement in a society I really enjoy being part of.

Connor Impey

Hey! Thanks for considering me for consulting director :)

Over the past 2 terms I've had the opportunity to work as a team lead within 180DC. I've moved from a team of 5 to a team of 10, the largest team within in the projects. This year has taught me so much about managing a team and I'd hope to use this in overseeing next years team leads, and continue this growth in team size as a consulting director.

If you were to vote for me as a consulting director I'd continue, and strengthen the work and developments this years directors have been key in implementing. I'd push to maintain current relations with clients where 180 can have a real impact - especially for ones with such amazing and inspiring causes. As well as this, I'd hope to prioritise consultant's work through mediating client expectations, something which can often be overlooked. By contrast, I'd foster engagement between our consultants and quieter clients - an issue which affects the impact we can have. For new projects, I'd aim to bring on clients who are just as significant as this terms.

Additionally, I was fortunate enough to have an engaged and active consulting director over the past two terms ( thanks Max ;) ). His significance within the project is not to be understated and as such, I'd hope to have an impact as great as his next year so that another consultant or project can benefit as much as my team did from his engagement.

Thanks for considering me for nomination - I hope I've got your vote!

Connor :)

Grace Tjandra

Hi everyone, I’m Grace, a first‑year Management Science student, and I’m running to be a Consulting Director. I’ve been a consultant in both Term 1 and Term 2, and 180DC has honestly been one of the most meaningful parts of my first year because it combines structured problem‑solving and teamwork with real clients.

Across my projects this year, I’ve helped with research, slide‑building, and client presentations, but I’ve also naturally fallen into the role of coordinating tasks, keeping our timeline realistic, and making sure everyone knows what we’re actually trying to deliver.

Outside 180DC, I’ve founded and led initiatives like a STEM Club, Social‑preneurship Club, and Prom Committee, where I had to secure opportunities, manage relationships with external partners, and support teammates through long projects. Those experiences taught me how to build and maintain client‑style relationships, support people under time pressure, and secure resources and training so teams can perform at their best.

As Consulting Director, I want to secure well‑scoped projects maintain strong relationships with our partner organisations and make sure consulting teams feel supported from onboarding to final presentation. I’d like to focus on giving consultants clearer structures, more feedback, and access to resources/ training that help them feel confident.

I’d be excited to help make next year’s projects even more impactful for both our clients and our members.

Ashley Wong

Hey! I’m Ashley, a 180DC Consultant running to be your next Consulting Director!

Working on two projects this year showed me what 180DC can truly offer - real impact, strong relationships, and genuine growth. I want to create even more of that for all of you.

If elected, I will focus on:

  1. Higher Standards & Better Projects.
  • Work that tackles real business challenges
  • Deliverables that create measurable impact
  • Skills that translate directly to top-tier careers

     2. Relationships That Last

Strong consulting is built on long-term partnerships, not one-off projects.

  • Develop repeat client pipelines
  • Introduce structured feedback loops
  • Maintain relationships beyond final presentations
  • Explore a summer/volunteer cycle to keep clients and consultants connected year-round

Sustainable relationships mean sustainable opportunities.

     3. Mentorship That Actually Matters

  • Expand our alumni & industry mentor pool
  • Introduce 1-to-1 mentor matching
  • Host regular mentorship panels & networking events

My goal is simple:

To ensure every consultant feels supported, challenged, and proud of the impact you make. Every consultant should leave with skills and industry connections.

Together, let’s build a consultant-centric 180DC - where every project drives impact, every partnership is intentional, and every experience is a stepping stone toward the Big 4 and beyond.

If you want ambition, sustainability, and stronger opportunities - I’d love your vote!!!

Karen Monie

Over several years of working in student leadership, organising multiple conferences, and being a team lead in the last two 180DC cycles, I’ve developed strong communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills that have prepared me for the role of Consulting Director. I thrive on connecting with people, making the responsibility of maintaining client relationships and guiding consultants extremely appealing to me. The social impact aspect of my projects has been really fulfilling, and I want every consultant to feel that sense of purpose by ensuring projects are clear, structured, and meaningful from the outset. I also hope to be a consistent source of support and a steady, friendly presence so teams feel comfortable seeking help when required.

I also believe consultants should receive pre-cycle training to build key skills such as problem structuring, business tools, and professional conduct. This would increase confidence and ensure that the quality of outcomes is more consistent across teams. Finally, I would like to propose a 12-week summer internship cycle. The longer duration would allow first-year students to develop skills and experience before applying for competitive penultimate-year internships, while also strengthening client relationships and retention through longer-term engagement.

I look forward to being part of the 180DC team and working to build something meaningful together, helping connect our students to the companies that need them most.

Abdullah Malik

Consulting is not about slides. It’s about decisions. It’s about clarity under pressure, structure in chaos, and impact that survives beyond presentation day. That’s why I’m running for Consulting Director.

At Blackmont Consulting, I’ve worked on identifying and structuring pro-bono advisory engagements for NGOs and early-stage ventures, helping convert raw leads into defined, actionable consulting projects. That experience exposed me to consulting as it operates professionally - disciplined, strategic, accountable.

As Lead Consultant at The Astrid Group, I directed operational restructuring across six subsidiaries, delivered data-driven growth strategies, and supported M&A transactions within CMA regulatory frameworks. I learned that analysis means nothing if it cannot be executed - and leadership means nothing if it cannot scale.

Most notably, I won the DIDA x Headstart Consulting Case Competition, outperforming 80+ teams from top UK universities after presenting directly to DIDA executives and the CEO. Our solution integrated financial modelling with ESG valuation to prove sustainability could drive profitability. It required rigorous structuring, quantitative depth, and composure under scrutiny.

As Consulting Director, I want to raise the ceiling.
Stronger frameworks.
Sharper thinking.
Deliverables that feel boardroom-ready.

Not just participation - preparation.
Not just ambition - execution.
Not just projects - performance.

Nicole Lee

Hi! I’m Nicole Lee, a Biomedical Sciences student at UCL with a strong interest in strategy and life sciences consulting. This year, I had the opportunity to work on a 180DC consulting project with the Georgian Nutrition Society, where I contributed to developing growth and engagement strategies aimed at strengthening the organisation’s outreach and long-term sustainability.

Beyond this project, I have taken on leadership roles across student societies, including serving as President of the Macau Students Association in the UK and contributing to consulting initiatives within UCL societies. These experiences have strengthened my skills in leadership and stakeholder engagement, which I believe would allow me to effectively support consultants and ensure projects run smoothly.

As Consulting Director, I want to focus on securing high-quality and meaningful projects that are interesting for our consultants. As I know many applicants come from a variety of academic and professional backgrounds, I also want to ensure we source projects that reflect this diversity of interests and skill sets.

Anjali Sanga

I'm standing because I genuinely believe in what 180DC does, and I want to help take it further.

The mission here is something I find really compelling: connecting student talent with organisations that actually need it, from child poverty to women's education to post-cancer support. That's not something you get to be part of every day, and I want to make sure we're doing it as well as we can.

As Consulting Director, I'd focus on sourcing clients with meaningful, complex challenges where our work genuinely moves the needle. I know what building external relationships and pitching to organisations looks like in practice, and I'd hit the ground running on the client-sourcing side. I'd also put real energy into how we support consultants throughout projects. I want people to leave each project having built real skills: structuring problems, managing client relationships, communicating findings clearly. The kind of experience that actually shows up in interviews and beyond.

And having competed in 180DC's own case competition, I know the standard our consultants are capable of. Now I want to help set it.

I care about the quality of what we produce and the impact it has, both for the clients we serve and the consultants we grow. If that resonates with you, I'd really appreciate your vote!

Charlotte Ma

I’m Charlotte, and I’m standing to be your next Consulting Director.

This year, I served as Team Lead for the Spark the Difference Impact Measurement project. Leading a team and managing the client relationship challenged me to think more strategically, pushed me to develop creative solutions, and ensured we delivered work that truly met the client’s needs. It gave me a strong appreciation for the impact we can create as student consultants.

If elected, my main focus will be strengthening the learning experience within our branch. I want to organize internal knowledge sharing sessions where project teams present lessons learned, key challenges, and practical takeaways from their engagements. I also want to invite experienced consultants and alumni to run skill-based workshops, from stakeholder management and financial modelling to impact measurement and storytelling with data. In addition, I’d work to source a wide variety of companies and stakeholders, giving consultants exposure to industries and problem areas they may not otherwise explore.

I’m excited to shape a culture that is ambitious and supportive, I’d love your vote to make it happen!

Aleksei Mikhaylov

I am highly interested in a leadership role at 180 degrees UCL because I see this as the perfect place to further my ambition for a career in consulting.  My interest in the consulting industry was born out of a love for problem-solving, from the Junior Kangaroo Maths Challenge to becoming the Match Attax World Champion in 2017, and a desire for experience working with businesses in different places and different industries. As a first-year member of the society, I have benefitted from the events this society has hosted, from case club to the case buddy program, and now I want to contribute to this society by facilitating these opportunities for others. My experience co-running the Investment Society in my sixth form has fostered key skills including teamwork and communication and provided me with the opportunity to manage multiple responsibilities at a time. I may not yet be the best consultant, but I am reliable, enthusiastic, and a quick learner.
