I’m applying for the Events Manager role at UCL Women’s Engineering Society because I believe in creating opportunities that empower and connect women in engineering. This role is the perfect way to combine my creativity and passion for community-building to deliver impactful events that support and inspire WES members. I believe in making women in engineering feel less alone and isolated by enabling them to build meaningful connections with other likeminded and inspiring women. I hope to achieve this through various methods that are not limited to a single event. I plan to introduce buddy schemes to support students in the younger years as well as speed friending events to help students in all years build connections.

My ability to plan engaging, well-structured events, whether networking nights, industry talks or skills workshops, will help strengthen the society’s presence and provide valuable experiences for members. I’m eager to bring fresh ideas to WES, enhance industry collaborations, and create events that educate, inspire, and foster connections among women in engineering. This role is a fantastic opportunity to develop my organisation and planning skills, expand my network, and contribute to a more inclusive engineering community at UCL.

Rida Zaman

As an engineering student with a proven track record of successfully organising charity and school events, I'm eager to bring my passion and experience to the Women's Engineering Society. I'm driven to create engaging and impactful events that not only foster a supportive community but also actively motivate and inspire women in STEM. I understand the challenges women face in engineering, and I want to use my organisational skills to develop events that provide valuable networking opportunities, skill-building workshops, and inspiring speaker sessions. I'm committed to creating a dynamic and inclusive environment where women in engineering can thrive.
