After having been captain for 4 years of my water polo team back home in Italy, I feel I have what it requires for our team to improve in the next season and potentially win BUCS and LUSL. I’ve seen what works (and what doesn’t) when it comes to building a team that’s competitive but also just a good group to be part of, and I’m ready to bring that energy here.
This season’s been sick — I’ve seen how much talent and potential we’ve got, and I know we can do even more if we just have a bit more structure, better communication and make sure everyone’s on the same page. Whether it’s putting more structure into trainings, helping players improve, or just making sure no one’s left out, I want to be the one making that happens.
I’m running because I care about this team and I want to see us go as far as possible, and have fun doing it.
My aim
• I hope to leave UCL with our men's team promoted, with the talent and strength of our remaining players and future freshers - no thanks to Sasha and Botond :(
• Simultaneously I wish to make sure everyone gets a fair amount of game time whilst making sure we put out our best team to challenge for the league
• I will work alongside our future committee members to ensure everyone in the team and club feels heard, and implement any new ideas people may suggest
My experience
• I’ve competitively played water polo for 14 years
• I have led many teams in the past, having been captain and coach for my former uni for two years, plus Colchester and Regionals
• I have two Varsity medals with my previous uni, and want to lead UCL to another (basically a treble right?)
• I am currently on the BUSL committee and have been part of a BUCS committee for 3 years so I have a lot of first hand experience on dealing with BUCS and the responsibilities of running the club from a captain’s POV
• I have links with other clubs and discussed possibilities of charity tournaments and friendlies with the likes of: Colchester, Chelmsford, Cambridge and London league teams + Universities of Oxford, Cambridge and East Anglia
But of course my main goal is to make sure everyone in our club next year, enjoys their water polo experience as much as I have :)
