"No matter where we are in the world, we carry Vietnam with us."

What does it mean to be Vietnamese? For some, it’s the taste of Hanoi’s street food; for others, it’s family traditions passed down through generations. Whether you grew up in Vietnam or abroad, VietSoc unites us all.

Since moving to the UK in 2022, I didn’t have many chances to embrace my culture and never felt the need to truly connect with the Vietnamese community, not until I started studying at UCL. Being part of VietSoc truly opened my eyes to the strength of our shared identity. As a first-year Economics student at UCL, an External Affairs Ambassador of SVUK, and a leader at AthenaLearn, I have the vision and experience to take our society to the next level with inclusivity as the main theme.

My Vision for VietSoc

  • Bigger cultural celebrations: A spectacular Tết Festival featuring performances from our talented members, alongside the return of VietFest.
  • Strengthening collaboration with VietSocs from KCL, LSE, City, and QMUL to deliver exciting events, including flower workshops, Halloween parties, and joint cultural showcases. And The very first Christmas Ball including all London Vietsocs.
  • More engaging social events: Board game nights, welcoming dinners, and smaller cultural gatherings to build friendships in a welcoming space
  • Career development & external engagement: as an Ambassador of SVUK, I will organise Career panels, networking events, and speaker sessions to support members' growth and aspirations
