As the current Vice-President of UCL Turkish Society, I have had the privilege of working closely with our community to foster a welcoming and engaging environment. Now, I am running for President to further strengthen our society, enhance our initiatives, and continue building a space where all members feel valued and connected.

My experience has given me a deep understanding of our society’s needs, from organizing successful events to ensuring smooth operations behind the scenes. As President, I will focus on expanding our reach, increasing collaboration with other societies, and enhancing the quality of our cultural, social, and professional events. Most importantly, I will continue to cultivate an inclusive and collaborative environment where all Turkish students can come together, form meaningful connections, and truly feel at home within our society.

With your support, we can make UCL Turkish Society an even stronger, more dynamic, and welcoming community for everyone.

Ecem Gursoy

Merhaba! :)

I’m Ecem, a second-year HPE student at SSEES, and this is my third year at UCL, including my foundation year. I’m excited to run for President of the UCL Turkish Society to continue celebrating and promoting our rich culture while building stronger connections among Turkish students.

Having been a Welcome AmbassadorTransition Mentor, and currently a VPEE Student Ambassador at UCL, I’ve gained valuable experience in community engagement, communication, and event planning. These roles have strengthened my commitment to serving the Turkish student body, and I’m eager to bring that experience to the role of President.

What to Expect:

  • Cultural Events and Socials: I’ll start with a welcome event  and host regular socials like Turkish food nights, game nights, and casual get-togethers to create fun spaces for meeting new people. Alongside that, I’ll introduce cultural spotlights showcasing the richness of Turkish culture, from traditional arts to modern creative expressions.
  • Academic & Career Empowerment:  Expect career panelsinternship opportunities, and industry-specific talks with successful Turkish professionals. I’ll create direct pipelines to real-world opportunities, helping members gain insights and connections for their career development.
  • Collaborations & Networking: I’ll actively work with other cultural societies to host cross-society events that promote collaboration and networking.

Thank

Ece Salturk

Dear Fellow Turkish Society Members,

I am Ece Saltürk, an undergrad Information Management for Business student. Since arriving in London, UCL Turkish Society has always felt like home away from home, a place where I always felt welcomed and a place that always eased my homesickness. To honor my love and devotion to this society, I have decided to run for presidency for the upcoming academic year. I know that all of us share a love for our Turkish culture, and this love has connected us despite being miles away from home. My goal for the upcoming year is to make sure this love will be celebrated through numerous events and bring us even closer. I will make sure that the Turkish students of UCL will feel connected and supported through our Turkish network.

This year in our society, I have always helped promote events among fellow Turks and always made sure we were all together. I have also proven my organisational skills during my time as the president of the TEDx club of Robert College, with events hosting around a thousand people with numerous speakers, such as Bünyamin Aydın and other great Turkish entrepreneurs. All this aside, this is also my first time living away from our beautiful country, thus I deeply understand how hard it gets sometimes. This is why I will always be reachable and ready to help in any way I can.

If I get elected for the upcoming year, our society's first and foremost important goal will be to unite and celebrate our people.

Tesekkurler.
