Hi, I'm Lizzie! Since joining Surgical Society in Year 1, I’ve truly enjoyed exploring surgery through SurgSoc’s tutorials, simulations, conferences, and networking receptions.

I’m running for SurgSoc Vice President as I want more peers to benefit the same way I have. As a workshop coordinator for iNUGSC 2025, I feel I have gotten to know the conference’s workings and can navigate the system to continue solidifying iNUGSC as memorable and cutting-edge.

Here are my 4 goals:

  1. Expand SurgSoc’s inventory: organise more innovative workshops and utilise the financial budget to appropriately and thoughtfully broaden the society’s resources
  2. Promote opportunities earlier, with better reach: foster more collaboration between UCL’s and other SurgSocs, enhancing student opportunities
  3. Bridge the gap between SurgSoc and iNUGSC: introduce an iNUGSC advisory panel involving SurgSoc subcommittees
  4. Solidify existing systems: use my insight to lead a diverse, dynamic team with clearer understanding and division of role responsibilities

Why me?

  • As the current SurgSoc Preclinical Representative, I feel I know the society and am equipped to bring about changes
  • Prior leadership roles, such as being an Academic Representative, have taught me how to deliver initiatives
  • Previous coordinator roles have given me the skills to coordinate workshops and events
  • I have learnt that often the best thing is to listen. I would be happy to help carry out others’ ideas!

I would be thrilled to work with you next year!
