If you’ve ever stood at a career fair clutching a stack of CVs, only to face vague promises and no follow-ups — you’re not alone. As your Student Union President, I’ll fix that. International students face tight visa deadlines and complex sponsorship rules — career support can’t be an afterthought anymore.
That’s why I’ll launch a Placement Accelerator — fast-tracked hiring where companies come ready to recruit, and decisions are made in days, not months. I’ll also push for an International Careers Desk to simplify visas and job placements. UCL’s talent is world-class.
To drive faster job placements, you need strategic thinking, negotiation, and strong partnerships — and that’s what I bring. At UCL School of Management, I co-founded the first departmental society and launched industry trips — giving students direct access to recruiters. That was step one. Step two is scaling this across UCL — bringing industries on campus for fast-tracked hiring where decisions are made in days. My experience in venture capital and private equity taught me how to connect talent with opportunity — now I’m ready to do that for all of UCL.
As an engineer turned entrepreneur and consultant for the Gov. of India, I bring a rare blend of experience & perspective. I’ve faced the grind of building a business from scratch, the pressure of advising on national policy, & the insight of working in venture capital. But beyond credentials, I have the empathy to connect with friends over late-night struggles & the poise to engage with senior stakeholders when decisions matter. I stand as your advocate — ready to listen, support, and push back when needed. This is more than a campaign — it’s a commitment to stand with you and for you.

I am committed to fostering unity and amplifying student voices through collaborative action and bold advocacy. Academically, I’ll push for expanded study spaces, mentorship programs, and transparent communication on coursework and grading. Ultimately, I’m committed to building a supportive, vibrant community where all students thrive, solidifying UCL’s position as a world-class institution.
As UCL SU President candidate, I’ll leverage leadership experience from organising campus events and leading societies, paired with strong communication and advocacy skills, to drive change. My collaborative, solution-focused approach ensures diverse student needs are met. Priorities amplify voices via accessible feedback channels (town halls, anonymous platforms), enhance academic support (study spaces, mentorship), and boost sustainability (waste reduction, climate alignment). I am committed to transparency, equity, and fostering a thriving UCL community.
Vote for real change at UCL! I’ll prfioritize mental health services, expand inclusive policies, and enhance academic resources like study spaces and mentorship. My MSc in Finance at SOM have equipped me with the ability to analyze financial and complex strategic issues, a skill necessary for managing Union finances and shaping its strategy. My training in economic policy and decision-making allows me to critically assess UCL’s financial priorities.
As an Academic Representative, I have firsthand experience advocating for students, navigating UCL’s structures, and pushing for student well-being. My ability to communicate complex issues clearly will ensure transparent and effective engagement between students and the Union.
As a postgraduate student, I understand how challenging it can be to advocate for ourselves—but it’s essential that we do. I am committed to ensuring that every student’s voice is valued. As a driven and dedicated leader, I promise to deliver on your expectations and work towards tangible, meaningful change that enhances student life. As a woman who knows firsthand the difficulties of self-advocacy, I want to make it easier for all of us to stand up for what we deserve.
So, let’s ignite this unyielding and ever-growing wave of impact—together!

My top priority is student safety. Many students have reported incidents of robbery in front of the Student Center, and I will implement better security measures to address this. I also want to establish a Zero-Politic campus, where students have full freedom to discuss politics but without the danger of facing propaganda or parades, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment unlike KCL, which faced security hazards due to protests. I will also update the ‘book a study place’ system; more reservations should be available. More events will be arranged, and we will inform every student ASAP.
Having served as High School Vice President, I understand student leadership at various levels. I am committed to listening to students, addressing safety concerns, and fostering an inclusive community. My ability to negotiate, organize, and advocate for students’ needs will be invaluable in ensuring positive change within the university. From ensuring campus safety to promoting free speech while maintaining order, I will work tirelessly to make UCL a better place. I believe every student deserves a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable university experience, and I will fight to make that happen.

- Ethical Banking
- Change SU finances to find an alternative to Barclays, which is notorious for funding war and climate destruction. This process must be transparent and actively involve students.
- Affordable Meals
- Fix the refectory! Lobby UCL to ensure it provides affordable, nutritious meals, instead of prioritising profit.
- Inclusive Support
- Support working students, pushing academic departments to be accommodating, such as through deadline adjustments.
- Launch an Impact Careers Fair
- Focused on sustainability, charities, and government, giving you more options and opportunities to succeed!
I'm passionate about making the SU work for students. I've already taken action, successfully pushing for a policy prioritising affordable meals. Now, I want to apply this to the refectory. With Gather & Gather's contract up for renewal, now is the time to improve UCL’s food options at its most important outlet.
I’m friendly and outgoing, and I want to have a real presence on campus, setting up regular drop-in stalls where you can ask questions and share ideas without needing a formal policy proposal. I have many ideas for improving the SU, but I’ll always be open to hearing yours. :)
Many students feel disconnected from the SU, but the responsibility for changing that lies with the Union and its officers. I'm running to improve the SU through ambitious but achievable policies: use the president's finance committee seat to pursue ethical banking, leverage meetings with UCL to pursue affordable food and support working students, as well as advocating for sustainability by starting a new careers fair.
The SU does matter, and I want to make that clear through these crucial changes. Let’s make that happen!
Happy to answer any questions @ leon.mcnulty.22@ucl.ac.uk :)

I have three key policies:
- MAKE UCL CHEAP AGAIN! The cost of living crisis is hitting us all hard. I want a freeze on all prices in SU Cafés, Bars, and Shops, and a PRICE DECREASE on as many things as possible. That means cheaper pints, coffee, and food!
- MATERIAL SUPPORT! I want to increase material support for students. Expanding the hardship grant schemes and lowering the requirements, so students in desperate need can be helped quickly.
- BRING BACK ADVOCACY! The Union has abandoned students politically, the SU should be a strong voice for change and should never abandon student protestors.
I love UCL, and I love the Students' Union. This isn't some grad scheme for me, I'm not doing this for a CV or LinkedIn. I genuinely care about student life at UCL, and I sincerely believe we can change it for the better.
As the current Accommodation and Housing Officer in the SU, I've helped students directly deal with UCL and Private Landlords. I've listened to students' concerns, and I've fixed problems. Students are having a really rough time, and the Union needs to actively engage and help!
I believe my experience, determination, and care for students is the combination the SU needs.
If you want to MAKE UCL CHEAP AGAIN, if you want more MATERIAL SUPPORT, and if you want to BRING BACK ADVOCACY, vote for me!
This is the moment when we decide whether we want a Students' Union that serves the Student body, or a runaway organisation that just wants our money, and is scared of listening to and amplifying our voices. I want a Union that is cheap, I want a Union that supports students, and I want a Union that doesn't abandon student activism!
