Salaam! I’m Fatema Zahra and I’m in my 2nd year studying Physics. Throughout my time in university, I’ve seen the profound impact SJP has had in the UCL community and feel that it is essential now more than ever that we keep doing our part in advocating for Palestinian rights, pushing for change and condemning complicity, as it is one of the most important and meaningful things we can do with our time in university and our voices.
In volunteering for the media team this year, I have worked with other students to create impactful social media posts and infographics to educate people so that the Palestinian cause can reach as far as possible after being suppressed for so many years and buried under misinformation. These posts are also instrumental in encouraging our peers to participate in fighting for Palestinian liberation. Through this I have learnt so much more about Palestinian history and it has ignited in me the passion to continue doing more.
In the next academic year I am determined to dedicate myself to collaborating with my fellow colleagues in continuing to amplify Palestinian voices and get the truth out there within and beyond our university community in hopes of one day seeing a liberated Palestine.
