Osman Jabbie

Hi Everyone,

I’m Osman Jabbie, a first-year Social Sciences student, and I’m running for Welfare Officer. I want to help create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for all society members. University can be exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming at times, and I want to ensure that everyone feels heard, valued, and supported.

If elected, I will commit to:

  • Promoting Inclusivity – Ensuring that every member, regardless of background, feels welcomed and comfortable participating in our events and initiatives.
  • Wellbeing Support and Resources – Making sure students know where to turn when they need help by sharing welfare resources and creating a space for open conversations about mental health and student life.
  • Community Building – Organising casual socials to foster a sense of belonging and make sure everyone feels connected, whether you’re new to the society or a returning member.

Why Me?

I’m someone who genuinely enjoys bringing people together and making sure no one feels left out. During my gap year, I worked in property management, where I learned how to listen, communicate effectively, and help people resolve problems. I’ve also volunteered at a care home, supporting residents with daily activities and encouraging social interaction, which reinforced the importance of creating a safe and supportive community.

Thank you for reading my manifesto. I’d love the opportunity to contribute to the society, so vote for Osman as your next Welfare Officer!
