I firmly believe that happiness comes from not only finishing your courseworks but also through contributing and helping others with your knowledge and ability. I am enthusiastic in helping you to achieve that.

If elected, my vision is to:

  1. Enhance Project Impact: I will work closely with our team to ensure that SEAD projects are meaningful, inclusive, and aligned with the needs of our members and the broader community.
  2. Expand Volunteering Opportunities: Volunteering is at the heart of SEAD’s mission. I will prioritize creating diverse and accessible volunteering opportunities that allow members to give back, develop new skills, gain hands-on experience and make a difference in our community.

Together we maximise the variety of experiences you can get in university!

Olivia Cheung

Hi, my name is Olivia. I am currently a first-year in the MEng at the Bartlett. I have a long history of volunteering and a passion for community-driven initiatives. The facilities at B-Made enable students like us (who regularly use these facilities) to work on projects such as the restoration of neglected areas and recycling old materials into new items.

I know how valuable volunteering can be because I've done it myself. Over the years, I have volunteered with Oxfam for 3 years, mentored students as a GCSE maths tutor, and supported anxious peers as a mental health mentor in an initiative called 'empowering girls'. These experiences have helped me gain experience in teamwork, and organisation but more importantly, seeing how my actions lead to big changes; creating opportunities which are accessible, rewarding and actually enjoyable.

If elected I would create more volunteering opportunities that fit around a range of schedules, work on projects that actually matter to you (whether that's academic support or environmental work), and make volunteering a social and fun experience. Overall, I want to make it easier and more engaging for everyone! Thanks for reading!!

Simon Kim

My journey at UCL hasn’t been entirely straightforward. I had to take an interruption in the middle of my second year, and I’ve only just returned this January to resume my studies. Coming back, I’ve realised how important it is to be part of a strong student community, and that’s what SEAD provides.
I wasn’t actively involved in SEAD during my first two years, but now, I fully appreciate the role it plays in bringing students together, providing opportunities, and bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world experience. That’s why I’m stepping forward—to contribute, to give back, and to help make SEAD as beneficial as possible for all of us.
I bring a mix of strategic thinking, financial awareness, and hands-on experience that would allow me to make a real impact. I’ve worked on group design project leaders in the past 2 years and architectural firm internships as a member of Finance / Project Management Faculty last summer. So I know what it takes to handle responsibility and get things done efficiently. Whether it’s securing funding, organising exciting projects, or making sure our society is running smoothly, I’m ready to step up.
Above all, I want to make sure SEAD is a society where everyone feels encouraged to contribute, learn, and create. If you want someone who is organised, forward-thinking, and genuinely invested in the future of SEAD, then I’d love your support.
