Sign Language Society: President

I want to continue and expand on the trajectory the society is going in at the moment because I feel confident in it and have good intentions for it to continue. I would like to continue the socials we do, such as the movie nights, deaf awareness workshops, Remark D/deaf club trips and panels; as I believe that they are helping to create community within the society, and I would like to uphold that. I want to develop my communication skills and confidence within communicating through sign language; and I want to improve and expand communications with other societies and external sign language users to open up the society to more people, which I believe that being President will help me do. I want to expand on practice sessions for the society as we have implemented them this year and I believe they are an important way to practice sign language and help to expand the social aspect of the society. This role can help me to feel even more connected to the society and the community that has been created which is why I believe it is important to continue on the legacy that has been created. The impact that raising awareness and teaching has had on the students within the society is very important to me, to many within UCL and even sign language societies from other universities. I believe that I can continue to expand and develop the society that you have come to know, understand and love so that it can be even better for the years to come!
