Quenie Lam

Hi everyone! I’m Quenie, running for Events Officer for the UCL School of Pharmacy Society. Starting university can be challenging, but attending SOP Society events helped me connect with a group of friends who made my transition so much easier. Now, I’m excited about creating these same positive experiences for others.

As Events Officer, my vision is to create inclusive and memorable events that enhance student well-being and support academic interests. My initiatives include:

  • Career-focused events & internship support - Inviting MPharm alumni from diverse fields to share their experiences; organising CV writing, LinkedIn optimisation, and interview workshops; expanding the ‘SoParent’ program to include career-focused mentorship.
  • More non-academic events - Hosting therapy-dog visits to help students de-stress during finals; organising Pharma-themed bar crawls for relaxed socialising; introducing a fresher’s picnic to help new members settle in.
  • Collaborations with other UCL societies - Hosting STEM dinners to promote inclusivity; arranging an SOP x RUMS mixers to connect healthcare students; expanding Industry Insight events to showcase diverse career opportunities.

My experience as co-founder of my sixth form's STEM committee has strengthened my communication and organisational skills, which I believe will help me excel in this role. I want to build on what already makes SOP Society great, making sure every event is well-planned, enjoyable, and welcoming for all <3
