Emily Towill

Hi, I’m Emily! I’m currently a year 2 student studying maths and physics and have been part of RAX since I joined UCL. This year I’m excited to be running for the This Girl Can Officer.

With RAX I have found an incredible community fostering compassion, enthusiasm and celebrating each other which is something I didn’t find playing competitive sports. I am putting myself forward for this position because I’d love to give this back to others and support women participating in running, both within RAX and as part of Project Active. My priority will be to create an inclusive and nurturing space were we can encourage each other, celebrate our achievements and learn from each other.

I would also like to use this position to build upon our platform of women’s health, both physical and mental, as I feel that this is something so often overlooked especially in running.

If elected, I will lead women-only runs weekly, split into ability/ confidence groups to accommodate everyone, from beginners looking for a welcoming place to start to more experienced runners. I will also lead a women’s only track/ speed run session every fortnight with the aims of encouraging beginners to explore different styles of running and distances in a relaxed and non-committal environment.
