RUMS Society: Events Vice-President

Hi everyone, I’m Zi Tong, and I’m excited to be running for Events VP!

Having served as Abacus President, RUMS Music President, and as a member of the events subcommittee, I have always loved planning events and being part of the RUMS community. From helping to organize Freshers' Fortnight to planning a boat party for 550 people and hosting Take Me Out at Scala, each event has strengthened my passion and equipped me with the experience to uphold and enhance RUMS events.

If elected, I will bring:

✨ Engaging events for all years – It’s no secret that events often cater more to early years, leaving later-year students with fewer opportunities to connect. I aim to bridge this gap by introducing a boat party for clinical years, ensuring every cohort feels included.

🎤 Bigger & better events – I want to take RUMS events to the next level by hosting Take Me Out at Scala instead of a lecture theatre, creating an exciting and immersive experience for everyone.

👗 A RUMS Fashion Show – A brand-new event to celebrate and showcase students' creativity together in a fun and exciting way.

🤝 Inclusivity & Diversity at the heart of RUMS events – I will ensure that all students, including non-drinkers and commuters, feel considered and included in every event.

My goal is to create a vibrant, diverse, and unified RUMS community where everyone can find events they enjoy. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me :)

Hi I’m Lakshmi a second year medical student and I’m running to be your events VP! 

From freshers pub crawl to finalists ball, RUMS events are an integral part of everyone’s medical school experience and I want to make them even bigger, better, and more inclusive! 
 

If elected I would:
 

• Organise more UH events: UH curry night is everyone’s favourite night of the year and I would love to collaborate with other London medical schools to facilitate other events that are also accessible to those not in a RUMS sports club
• Refreshers: Can’t let the first years have all the fun! If elected I will organise events for other year groups
• Freshers fortnight: Arguably the best part of medical school, I will strive to increase engagement (so hopefully more people make it to survivors ball!) and work with welfare to ensure they are lively, inclusive, and ensure everyone has a fun and safe experience.

• Ticket pricing: I aim to work with the treasurer next year to make sure prices remain reasonable so our events don’t break the bank
