Public Speaking Society: Treasurer

Throughout my entire life, Public Speaking Society has always been a first for me. It was the first extracurricular I joined in secondary school and coincidentally was the first society to welcome me with open arms in university.

In the last two years, I continued to work diligently as both the social secretary then welfare officer of this society. I witnessed with my own two eyes the magnificent growth of our fledging society into a pillar of my peer's communities, cementing itself as the go-to-place every Tuesday night. Helping run our weekly workshops, the speech mentorship program, and assisting with competition training were all highlights that I hold dear to my heart.

If elected, this coming year, I hope to bring even more to the table. Utilizing both my 8 years of experience as a competitive public speaker and my previous roles as treasurer for three other societies, I wish to leverage the tools available to us to ensure that the financial welfare of our members are thoroughly recognized. I plan to increase grant applications to cover not only weekly workshop amenities but further subsidize societal trips to competitions across the UK. I wish to launch a competitive arm of our society, to give our members a chance for friendly competition on a week-to-week basis. Finally, I wish to extend collaborations with external public speaking affiliated organizations, offering further legitimacy to our society.

This year was our year of growth, next will be a year of triumphant.
