Emily Yang

Hi! I’m Emily, a 2nd-year Biomedical Sciences student.

Since the age of 4, piano has been an integral part of my life. From classical to jazz, pop, and spontaneous improvisations with friends, playing the piano has always been a source of joy and creativity for me.

This year, I had the privilege of serving as Secretary of Piano Society, where I managed marketing and collaborative events. Having worked with my committee to lay the foundations for this new society, I am now eager to devote my skills to further develop its immense potential.

My vision:

  • Piano lessons
  • Collabs with music societies
  • Music museum / concert trips
  • Socials - Piano bars, tea & tunes
  • Open mic nights, theme-based recitals
  • Workshops - music theory, techniques
  • Guest pianist masterclasses

I’ve had many leadership roles, including House CaptainChair of the Student Council and President of the Environmental Society, where I initiated a £20,000 Greenhouse Project. As the President of UCL Japan Society, I hosted nationwide events by effectively delegating tasks to my committee and liaising with the SU. As a member of the International Piano Academy, I have experience in organising piano-themed events. Furthermore, being the Lead Academic Representative, along with diverse committee positions in Biomed, Life Sciences and MedTech Society, have helped me to maximise time management.

As president, I promise to guide the new committee and have members’ voices at heart to make this society a home for all piano enthusiasts at
