As a candidate for President of PhDconnect, I am profoundly honored to present my vision and plans for this exceptional community dedicated to PhD students at UCL. My manifesto is founded on the belief that PhDconnect is not merely a platform; for the last 2 years it has been a dynamic and thriving community that fosters connections, nurtures academic and personal growth, and bridges the gap between diverse disciplines. With this in mind, I propose a comprehensive strategy to elevate our community, enrich our events, and ensure that all members have seamless access to the vital services and resources provided by UCL.
My overarching vision for PhDconnect is to cultivate an inclusive, vibrant, and supportive environment where every PhD student feels valued, empowered, and connected. To achieve this vision, I have identified the following key goals: fostering a strong sense of community, enhancing communication and networking opportunities, providing accessible information and resources, and promoting personal and professional development.
To foster a strong sense of community within PhDconnect, I will implement several innovative initiatives. These include hosting regular welcome events for new PhD students, helping them integrate into the community, establishing a peer mentorship program that pairs experienced PhD students with newcomers, and organizing a diverse range of social activities, such as movie nights, game sessions, and cultural events.
