Natural Sciences Society: Events Officer

Hi, I’m Jonathan in first year Natural sciences! I’m passionate to join the committee of Natural Sciences society and contribute to our community with more entertaining and fun events next year.

I had experience in organising and planning events, and I love outreaching and collaborating with people from different backgrounds and age. Last year, I was involved in ‘The Bridge’ in my sixth form, planning a weekly program where we designed chemistry experiments for primary school students. I then outreached to the primary school and we organised biology workshops. I hope I have the chance to use my experience on Natsci soc events!

I’ll be organising more events and I guarantee that next year’s Natsci soc will be more packed with events, and we will be proud of our own departmental society. This is why I believe I am suitable for this role:

• Experience in planning and organising events
• Enjoy team work, collaboration and outreaching
• Connections with committee of other societies (eg. Geography Soc, Japan Soc, Live Music Soc…) so we can collab with more societies and host events together

Some of the events:

• more pub socials/crawls so that Natural Sciences students (esp yr1s!) form stronger bonding within ourselves (before friending with other departments like maths and chemistry)
• Speed friending events
• Natsci quiz and games nights and karaoke nights
• Departmental/society dinner
• STEM/natsci Ball (winter/spring)
• And many more!
