I am standing for Social Secretary because I want to give back to this amazing club that has made me feel so welcome at university and continue to foster the strong sense of community it has. I have built some great friendships within this society through the many socials giving me a solid understanding of what makes our events enjoyable and inclusive. I have plenty of creative ideas to build on past successes, such as ice skating and family socials, while also introducing new events that foster team bonding and engagement. As a native Londoner, I know some fantastic venues that would make for exciting and memorable socials. I am also an approachable and friendly person who would take great pride in ensuring new members feel welcome and settled, helping to maintain the club’s close-knit and supportive atmosphere. Additionally, I would love to introduce more fundraising socials and team-building activities to strengthen our community both inside and outside of training.
hi guys! i’m melanie and i want to be your social sec for next year!😇 i’m promising a year full of fun socials, including but definitely not limited to:
⭐️weekly wednesday social (with phineas trip afterwards, and perhaps cheeky scala trips with muay thai dress codes 🤫?)
⭐️muay thai quiz nights with prizes
⭐️dinner socials at thai restaurants
⭐️muay thai-themed pub crawl with challenges in each pub
⭐️karaoke nights
⭐️picnic trips with a side of fitness competition (hill sprint anyone??)
⭐️engaging charity events for good cause: muay thai-themed 5k run, muay thai skills challenge, merch fundraiser, pub quiz night, etc.
⭐️special socials for halloween and christmas
⭐️maybe a joint boat party with other martial arts societies??
⭐️and soooo much more!!

Hi I'm Dianne! I am a year 1 pharmacy student applying for a position as social secretary! I have a little over a year's experience being part of such an amazing society and I would love to take part in organising social events to reinforce the welcoming atmosphere present in the society.
If I were a social secretary, I would love to make sure that everyone feels included, no matter their background or Muay Thai experience. This is evident by my current position as Pride (LGBTQ+) sec since I have the responsibility to encourage people to join the society, no matter their sexual orientation. When I first joined the society, I had zero experience in any martial arts and was highly intimidated at first. However, I was welcomed by the committee, especially the social secretaries, from that year. In the coming year, I want to make sure that everyone feels included and has a sense of belonging in the society!
You may have recognised me being active in the Muay Thai groupchat, helping out in UFN, or noticed me during training or drinking in social events! I believe that my loud and strong personality is an advantage for this position, and I would like to use this position to voice any ideas made by individuals who may not be brave enough to vocalise their thoughts concerning this society.
