I am applying for the role of social events officer because I quite simply enjoy and am good at hosting social events. I have always enjoyed large social events and being able to talk to people whom I’d otherwise never meet. I have hosted many events in the past which have given me experience in organising events and I have always thoroughly enjoyed planning and hosting them. I have always found time for them and will be able to host socials regularly throughout the year
For example, I organised my schools graduation ceremony and my schools prom in the role of events officer there. Both of these events were very formal and required me to organise location food and drink as well as many design choices. This I believe would serve me well for organising the maths ball as it the grandeur of the occasion is similar to these events.

As well as the more formal socials, I also have hosted many events such as various quizzes or games nights etc back in my hometown and within my halls of residence which I thoroughly enjoyed making.

Additionally, with regards to socials focused on going out perhaps, such as pub socials, I believe I would be a good fit for organising these as I am an expert on most of the pubs and bars in the local area so I should be able to find locations for these which are agreeable to most of the society.

To conclude, I believe that I will be able to deliver regular socials to cater to many needs and will be able to plan an excellent maths ball.

Arhham Shah

I am standing for the position of Head of Social Events in the UCL Math Society because I am passionate about fostering a vibrant and inclusive community where students can connect over their shared love for mathematics. Having served as Events Officer this year, I have gained firsthand experience in planning and executing engaging events, and I am eager to take this further by introducing even more dynamic and interactive social experiences.

My background in event organization, including my work as a freelance event planner in Mumbai, has equipped me with the skills to create well-structured, enjoyable, and memorable events. I aim to expand our social calendar with a mix of casual meetups, collaborative events with other societies, and unique experiences that make the Math Society an exciting and welcoming space for all students.

As Head of Social Events, my goal is to strengthen our community, encourage participation, and ensure that every member finds opportunities to engage, network, and enjoy their time in the society. I look forward to building on the foundation we’ve set and making the Math Society’s social scene even more dynamic in the coming year.

I will make sure there is a bunch of cheeky events like maths themed pub quizzes, balls, collaborations with professors and YouTubers, and fun maths challenges and activities. You could call me xn where ∀l∈ ℝ, ∃ε>0 such that ∀N∈N,∃n>N with ∣x n−l∣≥ε the way I have no limits to what I'll do as a the head of social events.
