Yan Lai

 Hello everyone!

I'm Yan Sheng, and I'm excited to run for President of the Malaysian Society. Joining the Malaysian Society as a first-year student showed me its amazing potential, but I also noticed that involvement from second and third-year members often declines. I want to change that and ensure everyone feels connected and actively engaged throughout their university journey.

Drawing from my previous leadership experiences, I firmly believe that accountability is crucial. As your president, transparency and responsibility will be at the heart of everything I do. I'll establish clear and accessible communication channels to ensure your voice is always heard and acted upon.

Moreover, I aim to expand our reach by actively seeking sponsorships and promoting our society's presence. Through dynamic events, meaningful partnerships, and effective outreach, we'll enhance our visibility and provide even greater opportunities for all members.

Together, let's make Malaysian Society active, vibrant, and united—menggabungkan semua suara.

Here is my manifesto for reference.

Thank you!

Yi Kang Chai

Before arriving at UCL, I went in with an open mind and no clear expectations—ready to embrace the unknown. It was only after arriving that I discovered the pre-departure camp, a cornerstone of support I wish I’d known about sooner.

Eager to be involved, I joined the RD Programme—and it did not disappoint. From the silly Santa costume to celebrating small victories together, the RD Programme sharpened my leadership skills while providing irreplaceable memories. My role as a photographer for MNight also showed me the potential this society has for a strong sense of community. Behind the lens, I witnessed raw moments of camaraderie: volunteers sharing laughter during rehearsals and genuinely having a blast. These experiences solidified my decision to lead this society. This is backed up by my enjoyment in seeing the team's ambition come to fruition, being able to give my all, see the smiles of those who enjoyed the journey & the destination, and forge long-lasting friendships.

None of this would be possible without the dedication of past committees, whose work has inspired me to build on their foundation. My goal is simple: to support our members, to forge more memories, and to elevate this society to even greater heights, together.

To know more about what I'll bring to the table, here's my manifesto. I hope to see you at the AGM!
