Malaysian Society: MNight Producer

Ever since being involved for the first time in a school production six years ago, I’ve been captivated by the theatre and have sought out opportunities to get involved in productions again whenever possible. In MNight 2024 I was one of the assistant stage managers, alongside being part of the backstage department and creating the set and props. This was my first time working in backstage on a show, as I was previously involved in the music side of things in the past. The experience I had working alongside our community to create two nights of fun, and drama, and laughter - made me want to take on the role of producer for next years MNight.

As producer, I'd want to organise more socials to foster interdepartmental connections especially within the non-performing aspects of MNight. I also want to ramp up our marketing and outreach to reach more than just the Malaysian population here, and to spread the joy of MNight to the non-Malaysians as well.  I plan to join other shows as well next year as  part of UCL Stage Crew, to learn more about the technical side of a show and to gain inspiration and insights from other producers. My hope is to keep up the legacy of MNight at UCL and to re-create and improve upon the experience I had this year, for everyone and anyone who gets involved.
