Yi Qian Tan

I am standing for the position of Events Director because I want to bring people together, create lasting memories, and strengthen our community bonds. I want to ensure easier access to engaging, diverse, and meaningful events that enhance their time here. With a creative mindset, I aim to introduce fresh and exciting event ideas while ensuring they align with the society’s needs and interests. Actively gathering participant feedback is a key priority for me, as it will help refine future events and boost engagement across all years. I also want to strengthen collaboration between other universities and societies, allowing us to host more impactful events that benefit from shared resources and diverse perspectives (and possibly lower prices). That way, we can expand our social circle and make new friends! Most importantly, I aspire to plan events that celebrate and promote our unique Malaysian culture while fostering stronger bonds within our community — whether through weekend outings beyond London or more free socials (potluck?) where students can simply hang out and relax.

My leadership experience, adaptability, and passion for bringing people together give me the confidence to take on this role. While my goals may be ambitious at times, I am determined to make them a reality. To take on this role is to build a connected, engaging, and accessible student experience, and I’m excited to make that happen.
