Election post
Status
Elected

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?
- Bring LGBTQ+ welfare issues to the forefront of the university's concern, ensuring that LGBTQ+ students feel safe and accommodated within the university and that UCL does its best to create a safe environment conducive to learning and socialising for the cohort.
- Provide easily accessible information to issues regarding safe sex, health, and signposting for LGBTQ+ students and allow them to have the safest LGBTQ+ experience whilst staying in London.
- Create LGBTQ+ specific assistance and guidance through various means to tailor welfare provision for every need that may affect students at UCL.
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?
- As a welfare officer at my previous school, I headed welfare issues and charity events that supported students and allowed them to participate in various levels of support and fun for other students.
- Currently a Just Like Us student ambassador, I provide youth in secondary education with signposting and give information on how to be a good ally, finding support as an LGBTQ+ individual, and generally explain terminology to help them understand the difficulties and great qualities of LGBTQ+ life.
- Always ready to support and assist others, I'm happy to listen to others' concerns and help them.
Please summarise why students should vote for you.
I'm just like any other UCL student, and I want to deliver real change with my experience and assist you. Being LGBTQ+ shouldn't prevent you from enjoying university, and your issues should be taken seriously. By voting for me, you're voting for a welfare officer who listens to, speaks out for, and supports you. Life should be simple, not complicated. I will advocate for easier procedures and guidance for all LGBTQ+ identities and work alongside fellow officers to provide the best experience for you and your friends; allyship is also important, and fostering a safe environment will be key. <3
