What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

As a politically engaged bisexual, I have learnt about the struggles LGBTQ+ people face and am passionate about advocating for greater recognition, expression, and inclusion at UCL. I have a strong network within the LGBTQ+ community through events and societies which will allow me to incorporate diverse perspectives into policy. Additionally, I’m actively involved in the Student Union, having attended Union Executive, Student Forums, and the Education Zone giving me the knowledge, experience and ability necessary to propose and advocate for policies to improve the lives of queer people.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

As LGBTQ+ Officer, I’d work with UCL to create a safer and more inclusive space for queer people. This would include pushing for increased and targeted LGBTQ+ mental health support, especially for those with non-accepting families and those facing ostracism. I would also advocate for funding and promoting queer art on campus to foster greater expression. Further, I will try to use UCL’s reputation to drive wider change in society to improve LGBTQ+ lives through coordinating campaigns and protests across the University of London to support queer rights, particularly improving trans healthcare.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I’m deeply passionate about LGBTQ+ rights and have witnessed firsthand the struggles queer people face in society today. With my experience and commitment, I can unite LGBTQ+ students at UCL to drive meaningful change. I am equipped to involve the queer community across UCL in policy making which will be vital to find the key areas in which people need support. Moreover, I feel I am well equipped to lobby UCL due to my experience in Union meetings and previous success helping to pass policy. I would genuinely love to use this role to make a real difference in the lives of queer people.
