I am applying for the position of Welfare Officer in the Law for All Society as I am expressly committed to fostering an inclusive, supportive and accessible environment for all members. I personally understand the pressure that comes with pursuing a legal future whilst studying for a non-legal undergraduate degree and as such I believe that student well-being should be at the heart of every society, with every member feeling valued and accepted throughout their legal journey. I draw my belief in the importance of student welfare from my personal experiences of balancing academic rigor with mental well-being. It is a challenging feat that is often difficult alone, and support from a Welfare Officer like myself is paramount. I understand the challenges that aspiring lawyers face, from competitive applications to academic stress therefore I hope to introduce initiatives that lower the pressure students feel. Whether through well-being events, peer support networks, or accessible resources, I will work diligently to ensure that every member feels encouraged and accepted. Furthermore, I am an empathetic and approachable individual, who is always willing to listen and advocate for others. My organizational skills and proactive nature will allow me to implement meaningful welfare initiatives while collaborating effectively with the committee. By becoming Welfare Officer, I hope to create a welcoming, supportive, and mentally healthy space for all members of Law for All.

Having served as both the Commercial Awareness Officer and Events Officer over the past year, I have gained a profound understanding of the dynamics and challenges that our diverse student body faces. This unique perspective, coupled with my unwavering commitment to promoting student welfare, makes me an ideal candidate for this role.
During my tenure as Commercial Awareness Officer and Events Officer, we curated inclusive and engaging events that catered to the interests and well-being of our members. These experiences have honed my organizational skills and reinforced my passion for creating an environment where everyone feels valued and supported.
My goal as Welfare Officer is to build on this foundation and introduce initiatives that prioritize mental health, inclusivity, and student support. I plan to implement regular drop-in sessions where students can voice their concerns and seek guidance, collaborate with mental health professionals to offer workshops, and establish peer support networks to ensure that no student feels alone in their journey.
I am deeply committed to the ethos of the LFA Society, which champions equality and access to legal education, career for all. By promoting a culture of compassion and understanding, I believe we can create a society where every member thrives. I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to this vision as Welfare Officer and to continue making a positive impact on the UCL law community.
I am running for Welfare Officer because I want every aspiring lawyer, no matter their background, to feel supported and valued. Law for All is about inclusivity, and I want to make sure every member feels welcome, well-informed, and reassured as they navigate their career path.
Having worked in different industries, I have experience supporting people in high-pressure situations. I understand the challenges students face, from academic stress to career uncertainty, and I know that pursuing a legal career comes with highs and lows. That is why I want to be someone you can turn to, whether you need a chat or help finding the right support. If you are unsure who to speak to, I will always be happy to listen and help however I can.
If elected, I will be approachable and available to all, ensuring the society remains inclusive and continues to improve. I will listen to members’ concerns, promote wellbeing initiatives, and create a space where everyone feels comfortable reaching out. No one should feel like they are facing this journey alone. I will always be here to help.
