Hi I’m Kimia and I’m a 5th year medical student. Kickboxing has quickly become a huge part of my uni experience, and I want to make the social side just as fun and welcoming as training. If elected, I’ll organise more regular socials, especially on Wednesday nights at Phineas, so we can have a proper space to relax and bond as a club. I also want to connect with other sports societies for joint events, making kickboxing a bigger part of the uni sports community. Whether you're up for a big night out or a chilled meetup, I’ll make sure there’s something for everyone to enjoy!
I am running for the position of Social Welfare Officer because I want to ensure that every member of UCL Kickboxing Society feels supported, included, and motivated to thrive in both their training and social experiences.
Kickboxing is more than just a sport—it’s a community. My goal is to foster an environment where everyone, regardless of experience or background, feels welcome and encouraged. I will prioritize mental and physical well-being by promoting open communication, organizing welfare-focused initiatives, and ensuring that our training spaces remain inclusive and supportive.
With my dedication to both the sport and the well-being of our members, I am committed to making UCL Kickboxing Society a place where everyone can train, grow, and connect in a positive and empowering atmosphere.
In these two terms, the kickboxing club has made me feel so welcome. Despite being new, I have experienced an inclusive environment, with highly supportive committee members. I have also really loved the socials in the kickboxing club! I would love to help foster a similar environment for the next academic year.
I also have a wide range of skills that make me a suitable candidate for this role. I am confident in designing and hosting events, as I was a member of my school’s student council for five years. During this time, I raised money for and hosted a range of social events, so I have the experience and organisational skills necessary to create great events. If I am voted, I will do my best to meet the standard of amazing events hosted this year!
I loved standing as Social Secretary throughout the 2024-2025 academic year and would love to continue in this position. My experience in this role would greatly carry over to next year and help me further expand the society through social media. Over the past year, I've developed a strong understanding of how to engage with members both online and in person, ensuring that everyone feels included and connected. I have also improved the society's visibility by creating exciting and relevant content for social platforms, which attracted new members and boosted attendance at events. Continuing in this role would allow me to build on these achievements and introduce fresh ideas to keep the society thriving and engaging for everyone.
Additionally, I've had a great time collaborating with other members of the committee and meeting so many new people through the society. I would love to continue building on these connections and contributing to an inclusive environment for all members. My goal is to keep organising fun events that bring members together, whether through regular socials, collaborations with other sports societies, or creative new initiatives.
