Election post
Hi everyone,
I’m Dong Hao Sim, and I’ve been practicing Kendo at UCL for two years, now going into my third. Over this time, Kendo has become a huge part of my life—not just as a sport, but as something that has helped me grow both physically and mentally. Through consistent practice, I’ve nearly fully recovered from a past sports injury, improved my posture (I’m actually 2 cm taller now!), and developed a deep appreciation for the discipline and community that Kendo brings.
I’m running for Treasurer because I want to give back to the club and help things run smoothly so that more people can enjoy Kendo. I have plenty of experience managing budgets, from handling a few hundred pounds for student events to managing tens of thousands from scholarship funding. I’ll make sure the club stays financially healthy, well-organised, and accessible—whether that means securing funding, keeping equipment in good shape, or making training and events as affordable as possible.
I’m committed to supporting both beginners and experienced members, working with the committee to create a welcoming and well-run club. If elected, I’ll do my best to ensure we can all focus on what we love—practising and improving our Kendo.
Thank you for your support!
