Election post

Status
Elected

Hi everyone! This is Mayuko, running for Japan Soc President, and I’d love to share a little about why I’m passionate about taking on this role.

Being a part of this society, I’ve seen how special our community is, and if I’m lucky enough to be elected, I want to make sure that every single one of us feels even more connected, supported, and excited to be part of the Japan Society.

Why me?

As I’ve been actively involved in the society as a sub-committee member and a level 4 language teacher, I understand what makes this society invaluable, and I’m excited to bring my ideas, energy, and commitment to Japan Soc. My experience as a peer-mentor and co-founder of a club in high school helped me develop strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills, all of which I believe are essential for the role.

My Goals

Here’s what I’d love to work on:

  1. Welcoming Environment for All
  • making sure everyone feels heard, through better and clear communication (eg. feedback forms, WhatsApp/Discord network)
  • casual meetups, utilising office hours
  1. Exciting Events
  • cultural/seasonal events (eg. Halloween party, bounenkai, hanami, anime screenings)
  1. Learning and Career Opportunities
  • more practical and engaging Japanese lessons
  • talks/workshops focus on career paths in Japan
  1. Collaborations and Partnerships
  • more collab events within and beyond UCL
  • increase membership discounts and sponsors

I’d be so honoured to have your support and to work with all of you to make our society an even better place to be :))
