Election post

Elected

The Islamic Society has developed me greatly in the past two years and I would like to play a part in giving back to the community from which I have gained so much.
My experience on committee this past year as RUMS ISoc Head Brother has given me a taste of what it means to cater for a community of young Muslims. If I were to be elected, my main aim would be to help build and nurture the ever-growing Muslim community on campus, so that they feel comfortable to practice their faith. Through organising events and particularly focussing on establishing fortnightly socials, I hope to provide an enjoyable space for Muslims to grow at university, whilst strengthening their Islamic identity and helping them to meet other like-minded individuals.

Some of my plans include:
Creation of a tailored internal committee & communal tarbiyyah plans
Work on a dynamic programme of events that leads to spiritual and skills development for the ISoc community
Initiate active work and campaigns on issues that are relevant to UCL students
I.e. lack of enough prayer space in B2, Jumu’ah facilities, timetabling that accommodates prayer ( in particular for future years, Ramadan), Ramadan funding, faith competent mental health services
Continue the ISoc’s campaigns such as “Believe and Do Good Week", “Discover Islam Week”, “Charity Week”,  “Careers Events"  but also provide opportunity for outreach to the wider UCL student population.
