Election post
Hi, my name is Jay. I'm Cantonese-American, but I live in Singapore and am currently a first-year student. You may have seen my other nomination for social secretary, and that's because I realize there's a large window of opportunity for what these roles entail. I mentioned that we all share a niche yet particular interest in the Americas, and I believe that more academic events and cooperation with other societies can foster this. I am also sure that many of us are occupied with the prospect of finding internships/career opportunities, which is something I believe needs more emphasis. As your academic secretary, I will push for academic events that you will want to go to and place more attention on career opportunities, whether that be more alumni forums or workshops. I have experience working in committee positions, and I consider time management and diligence to be some of my strengths. But, more importantly, I am a strong believer that a society's events should cater to its members' needs and interests. I hope to be a receptive committee member, and if I am to be your academic secretary next year, I would love to hear what's most important to you. Thank you.
