Indonesian Society: Communications Director

I’m running for Communications Director because I love bringing people together and being the bridge that keeps everyone connected. Whether it’s keeping you updated, making it easy for your voices to be heard, or creating collaborations with other societies—because who doesn’t love more fun events?

My past committee roles have given me strong experience in communication, collaboration, and organizing large-scale events—skills that are essential for a Communications Director. As a member of the Student Council for two years, I helped plan and execute school-wide events—sports cups and talent shows, working closely with teams to ensure smooth coordination. Being a school newspaper editor, I was responsible for creating and sending out monthly newsletters, ensuring clear and engaging communication with the entire school. Outside of school, I was an NGO’s education division member, creating social media content, organizing workshops, and improving my public speaking and collaboration skills.

These roles have strengthened my ability to keep people informed, foster connections, and coordinate between different groups—crucial for maintaining strong communication within our society. I want communication to feel effortless, exciting, and engaging. Whether it’s through updates, discussions, or planning awesome events, I’ll make sure our society stays interactive, welcoming, and full of new opportunities.

Hi, I'm Tobit, a first-year at UCL. I am nominating myself for Communications Director to help ensure effective communication both within and outside UCLIS, in an effort to continue the strong sense of togetherness the previous committee fostered. As someone outgoing, I aim to promote friendly discourse among members while expanding the UCLIS network of organizations.

My experience in organizational roles has equipped me with the necessary communication skills for the role. As a middle school student council member, I helped coordinate among members and reached out to other schools for joint events. More recently, as part of PPI London’s finance department, I collaborated with various other departments and worked with external entities, such as vendors, to support fundraising efforts. These experiences have reinforced my ability to communicate clearly and efficiently across different groups.

If elected, I would apply these skills to ensure transparent and effective communication within UCLIS. I hope to further collaboration, keep members well-informed, and continue hosting a harmonious environment for all UCLIS members.
