Nitya Kapadia

Hi everyone! My name is Nitya , I am a second year History, Politics and Economics student, and I am thrilled to be running for President of Indian Dance Society!

Over the last year, I have had the most wonderful time being your Dance Director. This role has meant I have had the chance to choreograph routines for our weekly Bollywood classes, teach during our classical series, and perform in various shows. However, above all, the most enjoyable aspect of the society has been the community built around it. Thus, I would like to put forward my candidacy for president.

I am bursting with ideas of how we can improve our already-amazing society even further. These include, but are not limited to, yoga workshops, fortnightly socials after class, and engaging with more of UCL with ‘Project Active’ classes. Likewise, I would always be open to suggestions from our wider community!

I strongly believe I would make a good president for our society because I have the experience for it. Being Dance Director this year has given me an insight into how the society actually  functions. Similarly, I have held leadership positions before: I was Editor-in-Chief of my school newspaper, Vice-Chair of History Society, and Chair of Hindu and Jain Society. Having achieved a Distinction in Grade 8 Public Speaking, I am an effective communicator, which is essential as communication underpins the smooth operation of any organisation.

Thank you so much for your time, and I hope you vote for me!
