Hi Everyone,
I am Adél, a first-year Geography and Economics student at UCL. I grew up in Budapest, and moved to London for UCL last year. I became an active member of the Hungarian Society straight away, where I was happy to find a welcoming and supportive community that is also a lot of fun.
As I entered the society, I was welcomed by many familiar faces and friends, but I was also excited to meet many new people, many of whom are not necessarily from Hungary. I think of this diversity as a very positive aspect, and as the welfare officer I would like to continue building an inclusive community within the society. Hence, acknowledging that the society can be important for students for many reasons, whether you are looking for a safe space to integrate into the fast-paced life of London, or just interested in the Hungarian culture, the doors are open for everyone! As the welfare officer, I would further ensure the well-being of all members and focus on preventing discrimination.
Together with other committee members, I aim to create a vibrant and inclusive (and palcsintaevő) community among the society members (and those from other unis).
