Sziasztok!:)
I am Zsófi, a second-year Economics student at UCL. I am from Budapest and have been an active member of the society for the past year. I find it incredible to see how many Hungarians attend the events and would be thrilled to organise them with the new presidency next year. This community brought me so much joy, it was amazing to reconnect with people I knew from Hungary and to get to know new faces.
Although it was scary moving to London all by myself, assimilating to a new culture and environment, the Hungarian Society meant a piece of home is always here with me in London. Whether it would be visiting our fellow Hungarians in Oxford or trying the questionable green shot at The Huntley, I would love to continue building this close-knit community, while also strengthening relationships with our alumnus. Additionally, inviting Hungarians studying at different universities or even those who are simply curious about our culture will encourage a vibrant society.
My favourite Hungarian food is definitely sajtos-tejfölös lángos, but you can expect many different delicacies, games, and a welcoming environment at the future events. Kinek a pap, kinek a papné, but the Hungarian Society is for everyone!
