Election post

Joining UCLWHC as a second-year fresher has without a doubt, been the best decision I’ve made during my time at university. It’s given me unforgettable memories, incredible teammates, and a sense of belonging. I’d be honoured to step up next year and help give the incoming freshers the same amazing experience I’ve been lucky enough to have.
Over the last year, I’ve shown real dedication to the club, travelling from outside of London, committing weekly to training and playing every match except those when I was sidelined by concussion—and even one when I probably should’ve been! My over two years as a teaching assistant for a primary school has also equipped me with the patience, leadership, and organisation needed to look after the new freshers, because managing overtired kids and overdrunk first years really isn’t that different. I’ve also recently started volunteering with Hockey Inner City, which has reminded me how important it is to create a welcoming, supportive environment—something I’d love to continue bringing to the 2s next year.
As interim captain of my home club last year, I got firsthand experience of what it takes to lead; keeping morale high, making sure everyone feels included, and bringing fresh ideas to the table. I’m ready to do the same for UCLWHC 2s, starting with upping our pre-match intensity. A new warm-up routine will get us fired up and ready to dominate from the first whistle. I want to make training something we look forward to by working with Fran to create a variety of fun, purposeful drills, with the occasional challenge
