The role of the Vice-President aligns with the experience I have in organising events and managing thier logistics. I was the lead organiser for GIIS Model United Nation and GIIS Youth TEDx for my school while in 12th (year 13). These events, although different in nature, are very similar in structure to Diwali ball and Garba. TEDx required reaching out to corporate speakers and lecturers at prominent Singapore universities and reaching out to external vendors for the AV team, food catering, T-shirt printing and videography. The professional scale of the event allowed me in the capacity of the lead organiser to hone the proper etiquette, diligence, responsibility required while interacting with vendors and running the event on the day while balancing the demands and needs of external stakeholders with the demands and needs of the event, which can often conflict.
During GIIS MUN the event amassed a crowd of 400 delegates. This required great delegation of tasks between the team to plan out such a huge scale event and manage such an event on the day. Eventually the committee felt like a family and the event felt like our success. I believe my experience can add value to the Hindu society committee while the memories and friendships in the committee can add value to me.

I'm running for vice president because I would love to make everyone feel just as welcome as I did when I joined the society. I remember seeing Hindu society perform at the welcome fair during freshers week - it immediately felt like home.
I've learnt so much more about my religion and culture through the society, and by being First Year Representative this year, I've gained a first hand insight on how our events are organised, be it Diwali Ball or Rangeela. Taking part in the National Dharmic Games and leading Sanskaar Sessions has further enabled me to gain an all rounder perspective into how Hindu Society works, along with honing my ability to bring people together.
As vice president next year, not only would I help lead and contribute to one of the sub teams (Sanskaar or Sports) and operationally lead events, I would also focus on collaboration events with other societies at UCL, help spread the word about Kho and potentially a Kabaddi team (since these are games of Indian origin - raising awareness across UCL would allow more people to participate and showcase their skills), along with introducing more creative sessions: some ideas include Eco friendly Clay Murti making for Ganesh Chaturthi, or sustainable Holi colour making workshop. Moreover, having interned in corporate funding for ESG initiatives, I can help create more UCL HSoc workshops in corporate organisations. And of course, there would be plenty more HSoc Bollywood movie nights next year!!

I am standing for Vice President because I want to take an active role in shaping HinduSoc’s events and ensuring they run smoothly, bringing people together to celebrate our culture and community. This role requires strong leadership, organisation, and communication—skills I have developed through my experience in both the RAF Cadets and my involvement in UCL’s badminton society for civil engineers.
Having been a cadet for the past five years, I am highly experienced in delegation, teamwork, and structured planning. I am used to working under pressure, coordinating groups, and ensuring that all moving parts come together successfully—skills that directly align with leading the organisation of Diwali Ball and Garba. I also have experience with logistics, scheduling, and liaising with different teams, which will be essential when working with vendors and managing on-the-day execution.
My experience in event coordination through my badminton society has given me hands-on practice in managing responsibilities effectively. As I will be stepping away from cadets in September, I will have the time and dedication to fully commit to this role, ensuring that HinduSoc’s flagship events are well-organised and executed to a high standard.

Hi everyone! I’m Sanjana and I would love to represent hindu society as your next vice president. Hindu society itself fosters an inclusive community, one that I have been incredibly grateful to be a part of this past year. From exploring the spirituality of hinduism through weekly sessions, to meeting some of my closest friends at Garba, the variety of events that are hosted by hindu society connected me to people who share similar beliefs and values; a sense of belonging.
Being a part of the House Officer team during my time at school enabled me to develop skills of adaptability, through overcoming the obstacles faced in organising a whole school house event for a 1000+ students, and of delegation of responsibilities while liasing with house reps from lower years. These skills will be vitally transferrable to the role of vice president, a dynamic role which I’ve understood to involve working with a myriad of people both on the committee and externally.
As an FYR, I had the opportunity to assist with the planning and running of our flagship events allowing me to understand the effort and working of the committee in background, leading to such successful events that all enjoy. From scrambling to choreograph a debut Diwali Ball dance to serving Prasad at bhajan nights, the experience I have had thus far as a FYR has truly been of my favourites from first year and I hope to continue to contribute and uphold the ethos of Hindu society as your next vice president. Thank you!
