I have had so much fun participating in as many Hindu society events as I could, from Rangeela and the Dharmic Games to weekly Kho sessions, socials and festival celebrations. This society has allowed me to meet so many new people and make friends. I want to stand for committee to try and help this society be just as welcoming, inclusive and fun as it has been this year.
I would make a great sports director because of my experience. I have been playing on sports teams for the last 10 years or so and currently play for both UCL Women's Cricket and Football and played for our Hindu Society netball team at both the regional and national Dharmic games, which was a highlight of this year. In addition, I learnt how to play a new sport, Kho, and I look forward to playing it every week. As a result, I have experience in almost all the sports we currently run through the society, which has given me key insight into how these might run next year and the kind of organisational, leadership and collaboration skills required to balance all of these.
Next year, as a sports director, I would like to increase participation, maybe by entering multiple sports teams to play in the UCL social league for regular practice and fun. I believe it would be a fun idea to host an inter-family sports day towards the end of the year once everyone has had a chance to meet and make friends.

Sports have always been a cornerstone in my life and having competed in badminton, tennis, track, hockey and netball, I have firsthand experience of how the power of sport brings people together, fostering a strong sense of community. I hope to extend this energy and enthusiasm to Hindu Society by cultivating an inclusive environment in which individuals of all skill levels feel confident to explore new sports.
This year, I competed in the NHSF Nationals, representing UCL in netball and badminton, in which we secured second place despite minimal preparation. Thus, I am determined that with more frequent and comprehensive training, UCL can secure a victory at next year's Dharmic games.
One of my personal aspirations is to empower more women in sports. This will allow us not only to showcase the diversity of talent within our society, but also expand our presence at NHSF by enabling us to compete in events such as women’s football and kabaddi.
If elected I will:
-
Introduce weekly badminton sessions, by using my connections with RUMS and UCL badminton captains to facilitate court bookings and provide equipment
-
Organise regular socials and collaborate with other societies to expand the variety of sports we offer
-
Tailor specialised trainings across all sports for girls
With my competition experience, strong network within UCL sports and genuine passion, I am keen to elevate our competitive teams as well as provide people with the opportunity to discover new passions in a safe space.

Sport is an integral part of my life and something that I am very passionate about, whether it be playing , watching or spending my free time reading completely useless statistics. I want to apply that passion into this role and continue to grow the sport sector of our society.
As a fresher, sport has been key to my Hindu Society experience so far and has kept me physically active. I have made good friends through football and kho and have felt more involved with the society. I would like to create even more opportunities for our members to participate in a variety of sports, both socially and competitively, regardless of skill or experience.
Furthermore I have looked up to both Ishaan and Neel this year, so I would love to be a role model to freshers next year as they are for me.
I enjoyed captaining our football team at nationals, and I would really enjoy having a responsibility within each sport, not only relating to tactics, but also keeping team morale high. Seeing the support on the sidelines this year made me feel as if our sports teams form a small family within the Hindu Soc family, an energy which I would love to fuel through more socials and mixed sport sessions.
In terms of competition, I am very motivated to ensure that we do better at next years’ nationals across all sports, and I want to do everything that it will take to turn us into winners, including regular and better attended training sessions.
Overall I would love to be a part of improving Hindu Society.

I am standing to be Sports Director because sports has been an integral part of my life, and I want to build a strong, inclusive and competitive sporting community within Hindu Society. From my experience as both a player and a coach in cricket, I have gained invaluable skills in leadership, teamwork, and organisation, which I hope to utilise in this role. Having played several competitive sports, I understand the importance of structured training, team spirit and effective game strategies - elements I aim to enhance.
If elected, I will ensure that all sports have well-organised training sessions that are accessible to players of all skill levels. From my experience in coaching cricket at school, I have learned how to structure engaging and effective training sessions while keeping sessions enjoyable, and I aim to apply this experience across all sports. I will work closely with my fellow Sports Officer to plan structured sessions, book venues efficiently and create an enjoyable and competitive environment for everyone. Beyond training, I want to expand our engagement with other universities. I want to arrange more training sessions, matches and tournaments with other university Hindu Societies. This will allow our teams to develop, compete and create strong bonds with one another.
With my coaching experience, competitive background and passion, I believe I can enhance the sports culture in our society. I would love the opportunity to contribute and help our teams thrive.

I’m excited to apply for Sports Officer, and I believe my passion for sports and leadership will contribute to elevating HSOC sports. I understand the importance of teamwork and coordination, and I’m eager to bring that same energy to organising training sessions, competitions, and socials.
Key Strengths:
- Proven Leadership in Sports: I’ve competed in Kho Kho with HSOC and represented UCL at NHSF nationals, gaining valuable experience in team coordination and competitive spirit. I’ve also played cricket and rugby, which have taught me how to adapt and lead teams effectively.
- Organizational Excellence: I founded and lead a climbing group for medics, ensuring regular attendance and smooth session management. This experience equips me to take on the responsibility of booking venues, organizing sessions, and liaising with external teams and universities.
- Team Collaboration: As one of the sports officers, I will work seamlessly with my partner to ensure smooth coordination. My experience leading robotics teams has honed my ability to communicate, delegate tasks, and motivate team members towards shared goals.
- Vision for the Future: I’m excited about introducing new sports, expanding training opportunities, and promoting engagement through inter-society matches. My experience working across different teams will help me drive collaboration within HSOC and beyond.
I’m ready to contribute my skills and enthusiasm to make next year a standout year for HSOC sports.
Thank you,
Hitesh
