Greenough Society: Social Secretary

This year, I stepped into the role of Social Secretary midway through after the previous Social Sec resigned, and despite the unexpected start, I’ve absolutely loved getting involved in shaping the society’s social scene. I’ve worked to keep events running smoothly and started making videos to promote our activities and engage more people. However, there’s so much more I want to do next year to make the Greenough Society even more fun, inclusive, and active.

If elected, I want to expand our range of events to offer more opportunities for members to get involved. I’m particularly keen to organize more hikes and field trips—getting outside and experiencing geology in the real world is something I know many of us would love to do more of. I also want to make sure our events cater to as many people as possible, whether they prefer casual socials, outdoor adventures, or themed nights.

One change I’d love to introduce is revamping Games Night into a geology-themed pub quiz, creating a fun and interactive way for people to come together, test their knowledge, and enjoy a relaxed evening. I believe that making small but meaningful changes like this can help strengthen our sense of community and make the society even more enjoyable. If given the chance to continue as Social Secretary, I’ll work hard to bring fresh ideas, exciting events, and a more connected society.
