Events Officer position for Global China Studies is significant in the day-to-day running of the society.

Having been part of the GCS events team during the 2024-25 academic year, I am pleased to have contributed to and learned from events like the Annual Conference, roundtable discussions, and movie nights. These experiences have deepened my understanding of event management and inspired me with ideas to further improve event quality, building on the successful foundation laid by the former Events Officer and President.

For example,

  • Enhance audience engagement by incorporating more interactive elements like live polls and Q&As
  • Diversify event formats, blending academic talks with cultural showcases, workshops, and networking opportunities
  • Strengthen promotional efforts by creating visually appealing content and using targeted outreach to expand attendance and engagement given current participation rate

In addition, my background in event organisation and leadership complements this vision. In my role as Head of the Prefects, I managed a 34-member team, optimised responsibility distribution, and handled a ¥10,000 (£1,100) budget, holding events like Halloween Haunted House and Temple Fair.

I’m confident that my skills, experience, and passion for cross-cultural dialogue make me a strong fit for this role. I look forward to bringing creative ideas and thoughtful planning to GCS events for our communities.
