Election post

Hi, I’m Quỳnh An, an upcoming 3rd year Biological Sciences student.
I’ve loved being Welfare Officer for Genetics Society this year. It’s been amazing to hear from so many incredible researchers, and to meet such lovely people within the Society. I’d love to get further involved by bringing inspiring speakers to UCL next year as Academic Events Officer!
I think it's important to hear about current research within genetics to find out what interests us and to keep us motivated (research talks can also be so interesting!). As Academic Events Officer, I’ll make sure to invite a diverse range of speakers from throughout the field, and listen to all of your feedback by trying to organise presentations about particular topics you want to hear about.
I've loved genetics since I was young (before I even fully understood what it was), growing up with my aunt with Down's syndrome, leading me to intern in a research hospital for genetic diseases. This has made me really passionate about genetics, which is why I’m so motivated to contribute to GenSoc!
I’m very organised and dedicated and being this year's Academic Secretary for Biology Society has given me experience in liaising with professors and professionals, making me well-suited to this position as I’ll effectively communicate with and bring in researchers to present to us.
I’d love to continue contributing to GenSoc and I’d really appreciate your support in making that happen! Thanks for reading!!
