Election post
I have always loved to write whether it is poems, articles, essays or blog posts, which is why I was so excited upon joining Genfem's this year to discover the blog. The blog serves as a social space where our members can express their thoughts and share their passions with fellow members. Writing for the blog has allowed me to deepen my knowledge on important issues I am a passionate about such as healthcare inequalities and the confusion of sexual identity. Reading the blog has engaged my interest in topics I hadn't considered previously such as the use of the term "women's sports", while men's sports are referred to simply as sports.
I am clearly interested in the blog, I hope to take on this role to develop the blog further. For example I would like to actively encourage interested members (including myself) to turn our discussions/activities into blog entries to keep all members updated and to be able to follow our progress throughout the year as a society. I would also like to help with the creation of creative writing focused events; for example a session on the power of protest slam poetry, or the role of writing in social movements, or creative writing as an outlet for frustrations and other such events.
I hope to take on the role of GenFem blog editor to be able to continue to grow the blog and allow it to live up to it's full potential as a safe expressive feminist space.
