Election post
Having been a member of Film Soc for the last few years, I have loved being on set and meeting an incredible group of people. However, I distinctly remember how nervous I was at my first event, and how scary it was to be surrounded by people who already seemed to know each other. As welfare officer, I want to help to make Film Soc as inclusive as possible, expanding the society to people who may never have been involved before but would really like to be, making involvement less daunting. I also am passionate about welfare issues specifically and want to be as approachable as possible for people if they have any specific concerns which they want to raise privately - I want to encourage people to speak up about anything which worries them about the society or while on set of term films. As welfare officer I would also be interested in working on what has been built over the last few years with GendFilm, helping the society to be more open to queer and female students, something that was certainly an issue when I joined UCL!
